Damn. I so needed a diversion that I included a typo in the title. Oh, well.

Not mush. Look at the curiosities and wonders of our world. You reminded us to look not only beyond ourselves but beyond the narrow boundaries of human existence, toils, and trouble. Thanks.

These creatures seem like they ought to be science fiction.

Deep sea creatures are wonderfully bizarre.

Warm fairy houses buried under the trunks of trees. I've had a thing since early childhood (@3) for tiny humanoid lifeforms.

Rachel Dickinson's avatar

Ah, yes. Me, too! And I introduced my children to them.

Wow! I kind of want to have a red-lipped batfish. A constant diversion right in your own home. As for me, I’m binge-watching The West Wing to detract from upcoming eye surgery and scrolling through pet adoption sites in the event I’m ever ready to adopt again after the brutal loss of my beloved cat. -Cat-less and One-Eyed in Michigan

Love love West Wing. Look up the red-lipped catfish because it walks along the ocean floor. It’s so weirdly wonderful. Best of luck with the eye surgery and I vote yes to two cats. I miss Charley pictures💔

I go for beloved poetry, the big volumes of collected works from Mary Oliver or Jim Harrison, or some Midwestern comfort from Ted Kooser.

That all sounds good!

I search Petfinder for a dog to adopt in the optimistic hope that the next one will straighten out the current two. Oh, sweet optimism, how you lead me astray!

Haha. Oh, yes. The corrective pet strategy.

Priscilla Berggren-Thomas's avatar

Oh, I'm going to have to remember that - the corrective pet strategy!

Mush out for a while. Your brain deserves some nothingness—great fish though!!!!

Thanks, JoEllen! Love those weirdo fish

I can't say I find any of those creatures cute but they are totally amazing. It's incredible how they have evolved and adapted to live in the deep deep sea. Once again, the photos made me appreciate how diverse, beautiful, and incredible the world is, even if these fish arent' going to win a beauty contest.

Best of luck and much strength putting one foot in front of the other to get through this very tough time.

Thanks, Andrea. My penchant for the weird and wonderful is strong.
